"Daddy Isn't Waking Up," 3-YO Daughter Cried After Finding Father Collapse To Death At Home

A GoFundMe page has now been set up to help the grieving family with their bills.

The holiday season turned into a nightmare for one mother from Oxfordshire, England. According to Daily Mail, Hannah Greaves was faced with the death of her beloved husband Dan on Christmas Day.

The family that includes the couple's 3-year-old and Hannah's children, Lily and Riley, were enjoying a lovely morning opening presents.

Shortly, they decided to go out for a walk. This is when little Ella called out to Hannah and said, "Daddy isn't waking up." Immediately, the mother came to check on her husband. Though she saw he was unconscious, she thought he was playing a prank on her.

"I ran upstairs and found Dan unconscious. At first, I almost thought he was joking and told him to stop it – but then I realized he wasn't," stated the mother of three.

Immediately, Hannah called emergency services. Unfortunately, she was informed that her husband was no more. "I phoned 999 and three paramedics soon came. He was taken to hospital, with me following on behind, but shortly after I arrived, they told me there was nothing more they could do. He was gone," said the woman.

Dan had been diagnosed with myocarditis, scarring on the heart at the age of 19. However, he lived a full life. The cause of his death is still being determined.

Meanwhile, Dan's demise has left a deep void in Hannah's life. While her older children were able to understand what happened to their stepfather, Hannah struggled to break the news to their daughter Ella.

She said, "As Riley and Lily are older, they understood more, but Ella is still so little. She saw the ambulance, so knew her dad had been poorly. I told her that sometimes, doctors cannot make people better." She continued, "I had to be very careful with the language I used. I didn't want to say anything like, 'Daddy fell asleep,' in case that scared her and stopped her from wanting to sleep herself."

Speaking of her late husband, Hannah said, "Dan was the kindest, most genuine person I've ever met. There wasn't a bad bone in his body." She added, "It's incredibly hard to talk about him in the past tense. None of this feels real."

Hannah met Dan in March 2014 during a local football match. The couple bonded instantly and developed a friendship. Later, it blossomed into love. Dan embraced Hannah's children and the couple could not be happier.

In June 2017, the couple welcomed Ella and tied the knot in May 2019. "It was an incredible day. Our photographer laughed that we were the most laid back couple of all time," said Hannah, recalling her wedding day.

Having lost the breadwinner of her family, Hannah is faced with financial struggles. Knowing her situation, some of her friends started a GoFundMe page to support her.

"Dan was the main breadwinner – I work part-time and am furloughed at the moment anyway. He took providing for the family very seriously, so I know he'd hate leaving me struggling," said the mother. She added, "My world has collapsed and the last thing I needed is for money worries to prevent me from having the space to grieve. So, my kind friends set up a GoFundMe page to help with bills and so on."

Despite being faced with uncertainty, Hannah added, "Everybody that knew and loved him is devastated, but I have to stay strong for the children. They're the force that keeps me going."
