Amari Churchwell became unwell immediately after coming to school and was then rushed to the emergency room after collapsing in his father's arms.
Amari King Churchwell, 8, a "bright and cheerful" died after being unwell at school the day before, per PEOPLE. Amari fainted in his father's arms shortly after returning home with his father, Kenneth Churchwell. His family is grieving the "sudden loss" of their child.
On 15th November, Amari went to school live every day but not long after, the school called saying Amari was feeling sick, so Kenney picked him. Kenneth recalls asking Amari about how he was feeling, "I just kind of asked him how are you feeling, he was like 'I don't know, I don't know what happened.'"
Amari's condition worsened after they got home when Kenneth tried to help his son out of his shirt. "His head just kind of fell back and his eyes rolled back, and then I knew right away something was wrong," the father said.
Kenneth rushed him to a nearby emergency facility, where physicians discovered a lump in the back of Amari's brain that had begun internally bleeding.
Dressed to the nines or dressed in his baseball uniform, Amari Churchwell shone everywhere he went. I sat down with his parents, who are looking for answers after their son died suddenly- with no warning signs- from a brain tumor. Before being moved to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland, a drain was placed into Churchwell's skull to relieve pressure on his brain, but the youngster could not be saved. "Unfortunately, the bleeding mass left Amari with limited brain activity. After much prayer, CT scans, consulting with three neurologists and exhausting all options, we had to face the devastating fact that Amari had passed," a GofundMe set-up to support the family has specified.
He passed away in between his loving family on 16th November last year.
His father spoke to FOX 12, "His head just kind of fell back and his eyes rolled back, and then I knew right away something was wrong." He added that while picking his son from school, he enquired about this health, he said, "I just kind of asked him how are you feeling, he was like 'I don't know, I don't know what happened.' " Kenneth was helping Churchwell to get out of shirt when he collapsed into his arms. After reaching the hospital he learned that his child has suffered a seizure. He told FOX 12 that doctors said, "no surgery could bring him back."
