The couple got engaged in May 2019 after dating for about two years. But they met for the first time way back in 2010.
Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost got married in a private ceremony, according to ET Online. The news, which was kept a secret for about a week, was announced through the Meals on Wheels Instagram account.
"We’re thrilled to break the news that Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost were married over the weekend in an intimate ceremony with their immediate family and love ones, following COVID-19 safety precautions as directed by the CDC," read the caption, accompanied by a picture of the Staten Island Ferry with the traditional wedding day aluminum cans.
"Their wedding wish is to help make a difference for vulnerable older adults during this difficult time by supporting @mealsonwheelsamerica. Please consider donating to celebrate the happy couple by clicking the link in our bio," continued the caption.
This is the first marriage for Jost and the third for Johansson. The actress has a six-year-old from her second marriage with Romain Dauriac.
Meanwhile, the celebrities themselves have not commented on their wedding. Previously, Jost had spoken about re-evaluating their wedding plans due to the pandemic. He said, "This is also not the time to get all your elderly, at-risk relatives together in one big group," in July 2020.
The couple got engaged in May 2019, after dating for about two years. "He did [do it in a romantic way], he killed it. It was a very James Bond situation. It was surprising. He's got a lot behind that [Saturday Night Live] news desk he's hiding," said the actress, alluding to the proposal while appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
She added, "He's very charming and very thoughtful and romantic. I was surprised, even if you imagine what that moment is going to be like, it's still, it's a beautiful moment. It was very personal. It was a very special moment and I think more than anything, when someone tells you they want to share the rest of their life with you, it's a lovely, special thing."
The couple first met each other on the sets of Saturday Night Live in 2010, according to the Insider. The actress appeared in a sketch written by the comedian. "That's my first memory of him. He seemed very confident at the time. I don't know if he felt that way, but in that environment, if you're not confident as a writer, your stuff just never gets produced," recalled the actress, according to Insider.
However, cupid struck only in 2017. After Johansson's separation from her second husband, SNL co-star Kate McKinnon set Jost and Johansson on a date. Soon, sparks flew between the two. The couple made their first appearance together in November 2017 for the American Museum of Natural History Gala.
They gushed about each other in public and Johansson even referred to Jost as the "love of her life." "This place means so much to me. I have so many friends here and I met the love of my life here," said the actress, after hosting the SNL for the sixth time.
Hope the couple enjoys a great marriage and a lifetime of happiness!
