The incident happened in front of the Vista Creek Apartments in Castro Valley, California on Thursday around 6 p.m. According to reports, it started a verbal dispute involving some 'salty language' and eventually things got physical.
According to the sheriff’s office, fists started flying after a verbal dispute. In the surveillance video, the victim can be seen having a verbal confrontation with the Amazon delivery driver, who then assaults the 67-year-old. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Department explained that it was over a discrepancy. During the exchange, the victim said the b-word and as she turned to go back inside, the driver assaulted her, KRON4 reported.

The sheriff's department said that the driver had hit the older woman an estimated 10 times on the face and head. Another video apparently shows the attack from inside the building where you can see how the victim is pushed up against the door as she is struck by the repeated blows. The sheriffs further said the attack left her with a possible broken nose and visible injuries. A short while later, the Amazon driver, 21-year-old Itzel Ramirez was arrested, reported KRON4.

“It was frightening to see an Amazon driver do that, somebody who we allow onto the property to provide us a service,” said Doug Smith, the property owner. He added that the victim is too shaken up to talk to the media about what happened. According to the sheriff’s office, Ramirez admitted to the assault but claimed it was in self-defense. Amazon responded to the incident and said, “This does not reflect the high standards we have for drivers who deliver our packages. We take these matters seriously and this individual is no longer delivering Amazon packages.” KRON 4 further reported that Ramirez is being held on $100,000 bail booked on two counts of elder abuse and battery involving serious bodily injury and is set to be arraigned on Monday.
