The entertainment world is mourning the death of the prolific actress, Jessica Walter. According to Deadline, the 80-year-old actress passed away in her sleep in New York City home on 24 March 2021.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of my beloved mom Jessica. A working actor for over six decades, her greatest pleasure was bringing joy to others through her storytelling both on-screen and off. While her legacy will live on through her body of work, she will also be remembered by many for her wit, class and overall joie de vivre." stated her daughter, Brooke Bowman, who is SVP Drama Programming at Fox Entertainment.
With a six-decade career in the acting industry, Walter has acted in many notable movies. The Flamingo Kid, Play Misty for Me, Lilith, etc are some of her incredible works.
She was nominated for the Emmys for her performance in Trapper John M..D. and Streets of San Francisco. Additionally, her brilliant execution of the character Lucille Bluth in Arrested Development made her an unforgettable star. It earned her yet another Emmy nomination and two SAG nominations.

However, the movie that got her an Emmy was Amy Prentiss. Besides acting, she has also voiced Malory Archer for the FXX’s animated series Archer. The actress also played an active role behind the screens. She was an elected member of the SAG Board of Directors for over a decade and was also the 2nd National Vice President of the Screen Actors Guild.
Walter began her acting career in New York City. In the initial days of her career, she starred in many Broadway productions such A Severed Head, Rumors, Advise and Consent, etc. She also worked at New York’s Playwright’s Horizons and the Los Angeles Theater Center.
