“Baby Holly” Found Alive 40 Years After She Went Missing | Her Parents Were Mysteriously Murdered

The couple's bodies were found in 1981 in the woods but were identified only in October 2021 via genetic genealogy.

Holly Marie Clouse was found alive more than 40 years after her parents were killed in a remote region near Houston. Holly and her parents Tina Gail Linn Clouse and Harold Dean Clouse Jr. were last seen by relatives in 1980, when they left their home in Volusia County, Florida, to pursue carpenter work in Texas, reports Fox 13 News. Soon, the couple's car was given to their relatives, who were made to believe the couple had joined a religious sect and no longer wished to communicate with them. The couple had been deceased for around two months when their bodies were discovered on January 12, 1981, when a dog led rescuers to their bones. Dean had been beaten, bound, and gagged when he was discovered. Tina had been strangled to death. However, they remained unidentified at the time.

Nor was any traces of their missing infant found. According to Brent Webster, Texas' first assistant attorney general, they were most likely murdered between December 1980 and January 1981, per ABC News. Tina and Dean's identity was established as the two people found in the Houston woods by Identifinders International in October 2021 via genetic genealogy. But their missing daughter, Holly, still remained a mystery for the investigators and authorities.

When the Linn and Clouse families, who had been hunting for the Clouses since 1980, heard the news that Holly may be alive, they immediately began looking for answers about what happened to Baby Holly. They got their response 42 years later: Holly is still alive. On her father Dean's birthday, she was discovered. OAG Senior Counsel Mindy Montford and Detective Craig Holloman of the Lewisville Police Department, where the young family went missing, arrived to Holly's job on Tuesday when she was informed about her biological parents. Just hours later, the 42-year-old mother of five from Oklahoma was reunited with her family on both sides online.

Donna Casasanta, Holly's grandmother and Dean's mother said, "Finding Holly is a birthday present from heaven since we found her on Junior’s birthday. I prayed for more than 40 years for answers and the Lord has revealed some of it ... we have found Holly." Sherry Linn Green, Holly’s aunt and Tina's sister said, "After finally being able to reunite with Holly, I dreamed about her and my sister, Tina last night. In my dream, Tina was laying on the floor rolling around and laughing and playing with Holly like I saw them do many times before when they lived with me prior to moving to Texas."

Allison Peacock, the founder of Family History Detectives/FHD Forensics and one of the genealogists engaged in discovering Holly's parents, lauded her family for never giving up. She said, "They've spent the past six months with me digging through records, gathering photos for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's age progression portrait, and documenting memories of Holly and her parents in an effort to help law enforcement." The inquiry into Holly's birth parents' murders, Tina and Dean Clouse, is ongoing.
