Ben Affleck has been honest with his mistakes. He is now in love and is in a better place emotionally and physically.
Our past does not decide our future and so if we have the courage to accept our flaws and move forward, it will help us shape a better life for ourselves. Hollywood actor Ben Affleck showed that bravery. He did not blame anybody for his mistakes but took complete responsibility for the choices he made.
Married to Jennifer Garner, Affleck struggled with alcohol addictions. Eventually, it disrupted their happy life. "The biggest regret of my life is this [his and Garner's] divorce. Shame is really toxic. There is no positive byproduct of shame. It’s just stewing in a toxic, hideous feeling of low self-worth and self-loathing," according to the New York Times. He continued, "I drank relatively normally for a long time. What happened was that I started drinking more and more when my marriage was falling apart. This was 2015, 2016. My drinking, of course, created more marital problems."
Though Garner supported him through rehab, their marriage could not be saved. However, the Gone Girl actor has now turned over a new leaf. Not only did he get hold of his addiction but he has also found love again. The father of three is now dating Cuban actress Ana de Armas after meeting her on the sets of Deep Water. The actors, who played husband and wife in the movie, translated their on-screen chemistry off-screen.
It looks like Affleck is in the direction he wanted to be. Speaking to Good Morning America recently, the actor talked of where he wanted to be five years down the lane. "Five years from now, Ben Affleck is sober and happy, and sees his kids three and a half days a week, and has made three or four movies that are interesting to him. [And] directed two [movies] that he's hopefully proud of and is in a healthy, stable, loving, committed relationship," said the actor, according to Harper's Bazaar.
The new couple is seen publically showing their affection for each other. They also went on vacation, once to Cuba and the other time, to Costa Rica. "They were beaming. I saw Ana grab Ben's arm as they walked out together, they looked super happy—she's absolutely stunning! I totally think they’re dating," said a witness, according to Page Six. Sources next to Affleck also admitted his changed lifestyle. “Ben has got himself in a way better place physically and emotionally now that he has faced his demons with alcohol. With the recent emotional interviews he has been giving about his past to the world, it really has woken him up more on what is important. And Ana has really helped in the entire process. She really has looked out for him through the entire time, making him accountable for his actions as a friend while they had filmed together,” said a source, according to Hollywood Life.
