Sometimes certain roles are played by people who once entered our lives as strangers. Stepfathers are such people. Once we thought they intruded our lives from nowhere but soon became close to our heart.
It is the day you turn to the one man who has been by your side and thank him for everything he's done for you. Father's Day is approaching and people all across the world are waiting for this perfect opportunity to bring smiles to the faces of their dads who brought them up with timely bits of advice, guidance, and lots of love. Sometimes, fathers may not just be those that are blood-related to us. Some of us may not have been fortunate enough to have our birth fathers around. Regardless of what those circumstances were, we were blessed with fatherly figures who took the role of our real parent.
They stood by us during our high and low points and boosted our confidence every time we gave up. Remembering all those fathers, the beer brand Budweiser released a short film paying tribute to all stepfathers.
According to Today, Budweiser made sure that stepfathers were not forgotten, with a heartwarming video that featured true stories of stepchildren and stepfathers. The emotional video shows these children asking their stepfathers to legally adopt them, officially removing "step" from the title. “On a day when the world celebrates fathers, Budweiser wants to shine an unexpected light on fatherhood. That’s why this Father’s Day, Budweiser is toasting stepfathers who love their stepchildren like their own,” Monica Rustgi, vice president of marketing for Budweiser, told Today.
The video shows three stepchildren who shared how they felt when a new man took the role of their father. They recall how they were not suddenly ready to accept the presence of a new man in their life. However, as years passed by they realized how that stranger loved them more than they could imagine.
"When I met Paul 28-years ago I was a fiery little a...a brat," says Shealyn. She met her stepdad, Paul when she was 6 years old. However, they did not get along immediately. "As a stepfather you have boundaries and the relationship develops over time and I just took things day by day and we grew as a family," says Paul.
This #FathersDay, watch how 3 stepchildren surprised their stepfathers with the greatest gift they could give. To Mark, Paul, Randy, and all fathers, #ThisBudsForYou. Tell us your story of a father in your life. For every story, we will donate $1 to the Stepfamily Foundation. pic.twitter.com/RNqKDErflz— Budweiser (@budweiserusa) June 12, 2019
Another man featured in the video said that he never had a real relationship with his birth dad. He shared how his life revolved after meeting his stepdad, Mark. "I didn't really have like a close relationship with my like actual dad, so when I met Mark, I was like, 'Oh, this is like what a dad is,'" says Mark. His stepdad, who is immensely proud of Victor, said," Watching Victor grow, watching the person that he's become has been amazing, and to know that maybe I've had a little bit of influence on that has been awesome."
Another woman remembers how the coming of her stepdad did not make her feel good in the beginning. The woman who fantasized her parents getting back together admits that she "was not having it" when Randall took the role of her stepdad. But as days went by she became fond of her stepdad. "Everything that my actual biological father promised that he would do, you actually came through and did," says the woman in the film.

The four-minute video ends on an emotional note as the kids surprise their stepdads with adoption papers. The film, which will bring tears to anyone who watches it, gained great appreciation online. "I have called Papa Sam my Step UP Dad for years. He stepped in after my dad stepped out...," said a user on Twitter. The video has already received about 971,887 views on Youtube.
The beer brand looks forward to hearing more stories from the public about people who stepped up to become their fathers. The company has also pledged to donate $1 to the Stepfamily Foundation for every comment the film receives by June 16th.
