Elvis Presley's Only Grandson Benjamin Keough, Who Was His Spitting Image, Laid To Rest Right Next To Him At Graceland

Benjamin Keough died by suicide in July. His mother was beyond devastated after the death.

The loss of a child is unbearable to any mother. Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis Presley lost her son Benjamin Keough in July 2020.

According to ET, Benjamin who was the spitting image of his grandfather is laid to rest next to him.

A message posted on the Facebook page for Elvis Presley's Memphis estate stated, "Benjamin Storm Presley Keough was laid to rest in the Meditation Garden at Graceland with his family including his grandfather, Elvis Presley, great-grandmother, Gladys Presley, great-grandfather, Vernon Presley and great-great-grandmother, Minnie Mae Presley."

The death of Benjamin had a profound impact on Lisa. It shattered her world.

According to People, a representative of the singer stated that she was "beyond devastated". However, the singer did everything she could to stay strong for her other children. "She is completely heartbroken, inconsolable, and beyond devastated but trying to stay strong for her 11-year-old twins and her oldest daughter Riley," said the source.

The source also admitted that she was extremely close to her son. "She adored that boy. He was the love of her life," said Roger Widynowski, the star's representative.

Born to Lisa Marie and Danny Keough, Benjamin was the only grandson of the legendary musician. Once grown up, the young man bore a striking resemblance to the rock and roll star. Lisa herself spoke of how his facial features stunned people.

“He was at the Opry and was the quiet storm behind the stage! Everybody turned around and looked when he was over there. Everybody was grabbing him for a photo because it is just uncanny. Sometimes I am overwhelmed when I look at him," said the 52-year-old.

Benjamin's images went viral on social media and many could not take their eyes off the handsome young man who bore his grandfather's charms.

Lisa was incredibly close to Benjamin and often said she saw quite a few the traits of her father in him. The mother and son duo even got matching tattoos in 2009 for Mother's Day. The proud mother took to Twitter and told users that it was “a Celtic eternity knot” that represented “eternal love and connection.” Benjamin also appeared in Lisa's rendition of Elvis’ 1954 hit, I Love You Because.

According to the Independent, the 27-year-old died of a suicide. TMZ stated that his death was caused by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Family members of the deceased admitted that he was struggling with his own battles. They also claimed that his death was not a surprise to them.

"It is shocking news but it also isn't a huge surprise as he had been struggling. Everyone is heartbroken and devastated," said a source, according to Daily Mail.

Benjamin's friends also noted that he was under a lot of pressure to live up to his family name. "That kind of pressure is definitely a part of what happened. It's a tough thing when you have a lot of pressure with your family and living up to a name and an image. It's a lot of pressure. It's almost like you're pressured into having to be a musician, having to be an actor. It was good for him to go around the world and discover himself and have his own friends. You never know what triggers it. You never know... It's so random," said musician Brandon Howard, a close friend of Benjamin, according to People.

Days after his passing, his sister Riley Keough shared a heartbreaking post on Instagram remembering her brother and the inexplicable pain she was undergoing. "Mornings are the hardest. I forget you’re gone. I can’t cry because of the fear that I will never stop. A pain that’s new to me," wrote Riley.

She continued, "I hope you give me the strength to endure the giant hole you’ve left in my heart. I hope you give me the strength to eat. I hope you’re cradled in love. I hope you feel my love. I hope you feel god. You are god. I can’t believe you’ve left me. Not you sweet Ben Ben. Anyone but you. I guess this is true heartbreak. I hope we meet again."
