Family Killer Chris Watts Casually Texted Lover That Family Was "Gone" After Killing Them | "He Lied About Everything"

Nichol Kessinger began her relationship with Chris Watts in July 2018 after he told her he was getting divorced.

To kill one's own family and to put a deceptive act shows how cold-blooded the person is. Chris Watts was such a man.

The father of two did not think about his kids or his wife, all he wanted to do was to be with his lover, Nichol Kessinger. He killed his daughters and his wife, Shanann without any mercy and acted as if his hands were clean.

According to Denver Post, Kessinger recalled the events that occurred soon after Watts killed his family and dumped their bodies at a worksite, 45 minutes away from their home in Colorado.

Kessinger stated that Watts called her on the morning of his family's disappearance on August 13, 2018. They talked normally, but later in the afternoon, he texted her saying his family was “gone."

The father of two did not seem to show any emotion and was very casual about the incident. Though the situation worried Kessinger, she didn't think much of it as Watts seemed calm about it all.

Soon, the woman learned more details of the missing case after watching the news. She also discovered her lover was lying to her. “I was very confused why the media was at his house. When I read the news, I found out he was still married and his wife was 15 weeks pregnant,” recalled the woman.

When Kessinger initially met Watts, he had told her that he was separated from his wife and they were at the end of their divorce proceedings. It was only after that the two started a physical relationship in July 2018. So when Kessinger discovered the truth through the media, she was shocked.

“I believed him. He made me believe that he was doing all of the things that a rational man and good father would do,” said Kessinger.

She was afraid for the safety of the missing family and understood her lover was capable of manipulation. “I thought, ‘If he was able to lie to me and hide something that big, what else was he lying about?’" said the woman. Later that night, she confronted him and Watts changed the narrative of his marriage.

However, Kessinger went on asking questions about his missing family. But Watts was not interested. His attitude "seemed off" to Kessinger.

The determined woman kept persuading Watts to speak about the incident even at work the following day. "It got to a point that he was telling me so many lies that I eventually told him that I did not want to speak to him again until his family was found,” said Kessinger.

With no response from Watts and no updates from the media, Kessinger decided to approach the police. She informed them about her relationship with Watts and also about the lies he had told her. "I just wanted to help. With a pregnant woman and two children missing, I was going to do anything that I could," said the woman.

Soon after she spoke to the police, the horrific news of how the kids and the pregnant wife were killed came out. Kessinger was shocked and heartbroken. Though she was suspicious of his actions, she never thought he was brutal enough to kill his own family. “He’s a liar. He lied about everything," said Kessinger.

Watts' pleaded guilty to the murders and he was granted five life sentences. He is placed in a maximum-security prison in Wisconsin. Meanwhile, according to the Daily Mail, Watts said, "If I had not met Nikki, I would never have killed my family." He confessed this to author Cherlyn Cadle, who interviewed him for her upcoming book, Letters from Christopher.
