John Travolta Has Emotional Thanksgiving With Children, The First Time Without His Wife Kelly Preston

The clip began with the 67-year-old thanking his fans for their supportive words following the death of his wife, Kelly Preston.

For every day that we live, we get a step closer to our deaths. Although the end of life is an inevitable truth, no one can really prepare themselves for it especially when it's the person closest to us. Their departure leaves behind a void that can seldom be filled and the pain we feel is just inconsolable. But life goes on and we try our best to go on with it at least for the sake of those around us. Hollywood star John Travolta is going through such a situation following the tragic death of his actress wife, Kelly Preston, who sadly lost the battle with breast cancer. All Travolta can do now is keep Preston alive in his memories and continue doing things that she loved to do like spend time with her family for Thanksgiving.

The Pulp Fiction actor recently took to Instagram and shared a heartfelt video showcasing his holiday celebration with his beloved family. The clip began with the 67-year-old thanking his fans for their supportive words following the death of his wife. "I wanted to take this minute to give thanks to all of you for everything you do for me throughout the year. I appreciate it. It doesn't go unnoticed. Here's a glimpse of our Thanksgiving," he said. In the compilation, we can see a cooked turkey and a lip-smacking array of holidays. Travolta's son Ben, who turned 11 last week, can be seen helping with the cooking and taking a quick break to play ping-pong with his Dad. Meanwhile, his 21-year-old daughter, Ella, could be seen on the keys. Spreading the love further, the whole crew goes on to wish the viewers a happy Thanksgiving.

The happy family picture was sadly missing two of its most important members—Kelly Preston and Jett. Travolta and Preston tied the knot in 1991 and had three children, Jett being the eldest. The family was first hit with tragedy following his untimely death in 2009 and then the Addicted To Love actress died at the age of 57 on July 12, 2020, leaving behind her two children and doting husband. At the time of her death, the Punisher star noted how courageously his late wife battled the disease. "Kelly's love and life will always be remembered," he said at the time and the actor has kept his promise. He continues posting tributes for his late wife on social media for occasions like mother's day and birthdays. Travolta does the same for his late son Jett who died at the age of 16.

Understandably, the actor was left shattered following the death of two of the most important people in his life. But he has managed to stay strong for the sake of his daughter, Ella, and son Ben. Appearing on Kevin Hart's Peacock talk show Hart to Heart, he opened up about an emotional conversation he has had with the 11-year-old following Preston's death. Travolta recalled that his son expressed his fear about losing him as they were walking around their neighborhood late one night. "He said to me once, 'Because Mom passed away, I'm afraid you're going to,'" shared Travolta. "I said, 'Well, it's a very different thing.' And I went through the differences about my longevity and her limited life."

"I said, 'But you know, Ben … you always love the truth and I'm going to tell you the truth about life. Nobody knows when they're gonna go or when they're going to stay.' Your brother [Jett] left at 16. Too young. Your mother left at 57. That was too young. But who's to say? I could die tomorrow. You could. Anybody can," he explained. "So let's look at it like it's part of life. You don't know exactly. You just do your best at trying to live the longest you can."
