The TV personality has been honest about her struggles with addiction to drugs and drinking and opened up about her relapse last year.
TV personality Kelly Osbourne is celebrating one year of sobriety and has turned her life around. Kelly, who is the daughter of Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, also announced that she was pregnant and looking forward to becoming a mother. The 37-year-old said she couldn't believe how good life has got since becoming sober. She celebrated the anniversary on Instagram, sharing a picture. “What a difference a year can make!” she wrote alongside a “Twelve Steps” image, reported Billboard. “If you would have told me 365 days ago that I would be sober, happy, and about to be a mumma I would have laughed in your face. Life is truly amazing when you do the work. Thank you to everyone that has supported me on this journey. I love you all so much!!!!!!!”
Osbourne has been open and honest about her struggles with drug and alcohol addiction. She opened up about it during an episode of Red Table Talk on Facebook Watch and recalled how she ended nearly four years of sobriety amid the pandemic in April 2021. “I was alone, sitting by a pool and waiting for somebody to come have a meeting with me. And I saw this woman and her husband had a glass of champagne. It looked really nice and I was like, ‘I can do that, too,’” she recalled. “And the next day, I had two glasses. And the day after that, it was bottles.”
Osbourne revealed to hosts—Jada Pinkett Smith, her daughter, Willow Smith, and her mother, Adrienne Banfield-Norris—that her first addiction was opiate-based drug Vicodin, which was prescribed to her following an operation to remove her tonsils when she was 13. “That was all I needed,” she said sadly. Osbourne said the drug helped her overcome her insecurities. “It felt like life gave me a hug,” she said and Pinkett Smith chimed in, “Vicodin will do that.” Osbourne said Vicodin then led to her Percocet and eventually heroin “because it was cheaper.”
Life is now looking up for her as she announced that she’s expecting her first child with Slipknot turntablist Sid Wilson. “I know that I have been very quiet these past few months so I thought I would share with you all as to why… I am over the moon to announce that I am going to be a Mumma,” she captioned an image of her holding her ultrasounds photos. “To say that I am happy does not quite cut it. I am ecstatic!”
