37YO Man Beat 17YO Teenage Girl Unconscious After She Refused His Advances During A Family Lunch With Her Grandma And Brother

The man stopped beating the victim only after her brother threw a chair at him.

Trigger warning: The article includes graphic details of violence.

A trip to the mall usually is a time where people end up having fun with their friends or family. A 17-year-old girl thought the same when she went out with her brother and grandmother to a mall in Florida.

The fun lunch suddenly turned into the worst day of her life when a strange man intruded on her family time and reacted in the most unsuspected way when she rejected his advances.

37-year-old Bruce Gordon saw the young girl and started flirting with her. He didn't care about the fact that not only was she not interested in any kind of relationship with him but was also underaged. Even though the girl ignored him and continued having her lunch with the family, Bruce didn't stop flirting. After several attempts, he understood that the 17-year-old wasn't interested and walked away. But things only got worse after that.

Bruce returned and beat the young girl unconscious. The incident that took place on October 7 at the Coastland Center Mall in Naples, Florida, left everyone shocked. The violent incident happened in broad daylight in front of a large number of people. When the officers reached the scene, Bruce told them that he hit the juvenile in self-defense.

The girl reportedly hit him, but a witness revealed something else. According to the witness, it was Bruce who started the violence when she refused any kind of interaction with the 37-year-old, as per WINK News.

"Directly in front of me was a 17-year-old looking girl with what appeared to be her grandmother," said the witness. "I guess he wanted to start some sort of romantic relationship with her but he was very close and very intrusive," he said.

When the girl refused his advances, he swore at her and left but then he returned and started hitting the innocent girl on her face multiple times. "Delivered this blow to the person’s face and the victim immediately fell like a sack of potatoes. If I were hit in that manner I would have fallen in the same way," continued the witness.

He also added that the girl looked lifeless after the horrific ordeal. "Then after that, he was continually pummeling while she was on the floor completely unresponsive. The kind of beating that he delivered to this girl just looked like to me he had every intention of killing her," added the witness.

The Miami Herald reported that Bruce did not stop even after the girl fell on the floor. Instead, he stomped on her as "she was laying on the ground and not moving." He stopped only after the victim's brother threw a chair at him. The mall security caught him, and he had to leave the mall with them.

The victim was treated by the paramedics for a cut on her forehead. Her name has not been revealed. As per the report, the girl was taken to Naples Community Hospital North, where she was treated for a "severe concussion" and other "multiple injuries." A "large knot on the back of her head and multiple bruises on her chin and lip," was found as per reports.

The incident was recorded by another witness and shared with the police. Bruce was taken into custody at the Collier County Jail on a charge of battery on a $25,000 bond. As per Collier County court records, another battery conviction was found against the 37-year-old, and so the charge was upgraded to a felony.

Other than the battery charges, Bruce has been arrested for crimes like marijuana possession and aggravated assault. In the previous battery case, the victim had to file a restraining order against Bruce.
