Walking down the aisle was a dream come true for 29-year-old Chelsie Hill, which was made possible with the help of leg braces and a walker.
For their big day, bride Chelsie Hill planned a massive surprise for her husband that left him in tears. The 29-year-old left her groom speechless after standing up and walking down the aisle. You see, Hill is paralyzed from the waist down and uses a wheelchair to get around. So naturally, when 34-year-old Jay Bloomfield saw his beautiful bride-to-be walking towards him with a walker he was overcome with emotions. "As soon as I saw Jay, his jaw dropped," recalled the newly married woman who had instructed her partner to turn around as she and her father made their entrance.
"He was just in shock that I was walking because he had no idea," she told INSIDER. Walking down the aisle was a dream come true for Hill, which was made possible with the help of leg braces and a walker. Moreover, her custom-designed Galia Lahav wedding dress featured a skirt that was detachable just so the transition would be easier. "I want to stress that there's nothing wrong with sitting down in your chair," noted Hill. When she was 17, Hill got into a serious car accident back in 2010 that left her paralyzed. Despite the physical limitation, she never let it hold her back in life as she even founded the wheelchair dance team called the Rollettes.
That being said, it had always been a dream for her to walk down the aisle. "But for me growing up, I always imagined myself walking down the aisle," she said as she shared the significance of the moment while exchanging their wedding vows. "My whole life I had imagined standing eye to eye with my husband on my wedding day. After my accident, I wasn't sure if I would ever find someone who truly loved all of me," wrote Hill in an Instagram post, sharing a part of the vows. "You have accepted me fully, honored me and adored all the parts of me. For this moment today, I wanted to do something I had always dreamed of. Stand eye to eye with you as we promise our lives to each other," she concluded.
After tying the knot with the man for her dreams. Hill stood up and shared their first dance as a married couple. But that wasn't all, she had another big surprise for her guests. During the reception, she and her father delighted the crowd with an epic father-daughter dance. What started with a traditional slow dance, complete with twirls and hugs, took a sudden turn when Soulja Boy's 2007 hit song Crank That began playing. At the cue, her father ripped open his white shirt to show off his custom-made "Father of da bride" before firing up the dance floor with a spirited routine which was set to a popular medley of hits that included, Bruno Mars' Uptown Funk and MC Hammer's U Can't Touch This.
In a behind-the-scenes clip, which was posted on Hill's YouTube channel, her dad noted, "I wouldn't do this with anyone else except my daughter." The day was indeed a success and Hill could not have been happier with the way everything turned out. "Such a magical weekend," she wrote on Instagram reflecting on her special day, "To say it was a dream is an understatement, every inch of this past weekend was perfect 🤍 to our friends and family that attended- thank you for coming in from all over. Each of you made it so special and mean so much to Jay and I 🤩 get ready for lots of content cuz we’re about to bring the wedding to YOU!!"
