Matthew McConaughey's Father Died After He Suffered From A Heart Attack While Making Love To His Mother

Matthew McConaughey's parents divorced and married several times.

Children draw a lot of inspiration from their parents. While adults many-a-time forget the profound impact their actions can make in the lives of their children, kids lay the foundation of their life values through these experiences.

Hollywood actor Matthew McConaughey's parents had a rollercoaster-like relationship. In his memoir Greenlights, the actor gave some details about his parents' relationship. But perhaps, one of the most curious details was his father's death.

Recalling the death of his father in 1992, McConaughey wrote, "I got a call from my Mom. 'Your dad died.'"

"My knees buckled. I couldn’t believe it," he said. "He was my dad. Nobody or nothing could kill him. Except for mom. He’d always told me and my brothers, 'Boys, when I go, I’m gonna be makin' love to your mother.' And that’s what happened. He had a heart attack when he climaxed," according to Vanity Fair.

According to experts, the increased heart rate during the sexual intercourse was the reason for McConaughey's father's death.

"Any physical activity will elevate your heart rate—whether you are swimming, running, or having sex, and your risk for a heart attack increases whenever your heart rate is elevated," said Florida-based cardiologist Dr.Leonard Pianko, according to Health.

Looking back at the relationship of his parents, James and Kay, the actor said they broke up and got back together multiple times. Their relationship was just stormy.

He said, "Those moments were so quickly superseded by the love and humanity. They were, at times, violent. As I say in the book, that is how they communicated. They were divorced twice, married three times, I mean, yeah, it was like the Pacific Ocean in a storm."

The actor, who wants his mother to be happy, once tried to be her matchmaker. The actor revealed that he set his mother with Hugh Grant's widowed father.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight in January 2020, the actor said, "His father’s 91, my mother’s 88. Yeah, why not? Next week, they’re supposed to meet, and we probably won’t see them for the rest of the night."

But unlike his parents' relationship, McConaughey has a very stable relationship with his wife Camila Alves. The couple, who got married in 2012, shares a magical love.

"I have been very faithful with my wife, very selfishly." He continued, "I like being under her spell. I don't want to break that spell," according to the Daily Mail. McConaughey was not ready to settle for anyone and waited till he felt an instant connection. He found that in Alves at the right time in his life.

"I was about to be 40 and my plan was to be married and have kids by that age. But I didn’t want to play the game of starting to feel anxious because, with too much anxiety, you can’t find a mate. I knew men who had made hasty decisions and women who had done the same thing. But at that point, I wasn’t hunting," said the actor, according to the Daily Mail.

The two share three children together and cherish every moment with each other.
