Meghan Markle Spoke To The Devastated Queen Before Prince Philip's Funeral, Insiders Revealed

Meghan Markle was restricted from traveling to the UK by her physician.

Prince Philip's death and funeral became a tragedy that captured the attention of the world for reasons more than just the royal loss. Unsurprisingly, the tabloids had to make it all about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, the royal rebels. After all the speculations and hearsay, the funeral witnessed the presence of Prince Harry without his pregnant wife. Though Markle could not attend the funeral of her husband's grandfather, she sent her heartfelt condolences to the queen ahead of the service.

According to People, Markle connected with Queen Elizabeth before she attended the funeral service of her husband of more than 70 years. She also joined the family's grief by watching the funeral from her and Harry's home in Montecito.

Sources also claimed that Markle spoke with her husband just before he joined the royal family in bidding farewell to Philip.

"Meghan spoke with Harry before his grandfather's funeral. Meghan and Archie also spoke with the Queen earlier this week," said an insider. Markle was restrained from making the trip by her physician due to pregnancy. She is expecting her second child with Harry.

Additionally, Meghan also supported her husband who took his first trip to his country since shifting to California. Sources confirmed that the couple comforted each other despite being apart from each other. "Meghan and Harry have been in touch every day. She knows the trip to England has been difficult for Harry. He didn't want to leave Meghan and Archie alone. Meghan has insisted to him every day though that they are fine. She hasn't wanted him to worry," said the insider, according to People.

Harry's presence at the funeral was most anticipated by the public, especially after his and Meghan's interview with Oprah Winfrey left the royals disappointed and utterly displeased. Most importantly, Harry's allegations during the interview widened the gap between him and Prince William.

Fortunately, though the brothers did not walk next to each other during Philip's funeral, they managed to reunite, keeping their differences away. "It has been a very difficult time. The Duke was the head of the family, and if there were any time they were going to come together, it's now," said a royal insider.

Prior to the funeral, Charles Anson, a former spokesman of Queen Elizabeth hoped the brothers would possibly get together out of their respect for the Queen, who  "absorbs things quietly."

Prince Harry, who returned to California to join his 2-year-old son Archie and pregnant wife is not likely to return to the UK before July as the brothers hope to unveil a statue of their late mother, Princess Diana then.
