Michael Jordan Wants To Give His True Love "Everything She’s Ever Wanted" After She Changed His Life After His Divorce

Michael Jordan was married for 17 years before meeting Yvette Prieto.

Finding love again after getting your heart broken once is difficult but giving love a second chance may prove to be in your favor. Basketball legend, Michael Jordan met the love of his life, Yvette Prieto just two years after getting separated from his first wife.

Jordan came across the Cuban model from Miami in 2007 while they were at a nightclub. The couple immediately hit it off and Jordan was smitten by Prieto. Though she was 16 years younger to him, sparks flew between them and they did not wait to see each other. Two years later, Prieto and Jordan moved in together to a 5,500-square-foot home in Miami, according to Marie Claire. In 2011, Jordan popped the big question and the duo got engaged after three years of dating.

According to People, the NBA star asked Prieto to marry him during the Christmas weekend. The father of three was all set to start a new chapter with Prieto by his side. In 2013, they decided to make their union official in an extravagant wedding.

Jordan, who was 50 at the time married Prieto at an Episcopal church called Bethesda-by-the-Sea, according to People. About 300 guests attended the lavish ceremony and the reception took place at the Bears Club, a Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course community in Jupiter, Florida.

Sources stated, "They’ve been planning for months and months. He wanted to give Yvette everything she’s ever wanted," according to People. Less than a year after their beautiful wedding, the couple welcomed their twins on 9 February, 2014. But Jordan's happy marriage came after the failure of his marriage to Juanita Vanoy.

Vanoy, a loan officer from the South Side of Chicago was introduced to the Bulls legend through a mutual friend. After hitting it off on their first date, Jordan proposed to her in 1987. Eventually, they got married in 1989.

Before their wedding, the couple was blessed with their first child. However, it took a while for Jordan to accept his sudden leap into fatherhood. Though he initially did not believe he was the father of the child, he later accepted.

“She told me she was pregnant, unwed, and that the father of the child was Michael Jordan. She felt she could not get Michael’s attention or cooperation or response without the retention of a legal representative," said Vanoy’s attorney Michael Minton to Chicago Tribune

Speaking of his decision to get married, Jordan stated, "I'm happy. It was a big move getting married. It helped me mature," to The Washington Post, according to Cheat Sheet. Their marriage seemed well but in 2002, Vanoy filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.

However, the couple reconciled and decided to give their marriage another chance. Unfortunately, it still didn't work out. “Michael and Juanita Jordan mutually and amicably decided to end their 17-year marriage. A judgment for dissolution of their marriage was entered today. There will be no further statements," said the couple's lawyer in December 2006, according to Cheat Sheet.

Sources close to the couple revealed their decision to part ways stunned them. “I’m shocked and disappointed that their marriage didn’t work. They clearly communicate. When Juanita couldn’t get the stereo to work, he’s the first person she called. And Michael was right there,” said a family friend, according to Cheat Sheet.

While even their close friends could not figure out the reason that separated them, Vanoy walked out of the marriage with a divorce settlement of $168 million in 2007, one of the biggest divorce settlements of its time.

Although it took some time, Jordan finally met with the love of his life, Yvette Prieto. Now, Jordan along with his wife and girls, Ysabel and Victoria enjoy a private life in their home in South Florida. The couple has been married for 6 years now.
