A mother from Houston arrived at a drive-thru testing site with her 13-year-old son in the trunk of her car.
Sarah Beam, 41, a teacher, was charged by the authorities for endangering a child after she allegedly put her COVID positive son in the trunk of her car. She did not want to be exposed to the virus herself while taking him for further testing, reports CNN. On January 3, Beam pulled into the drive-thru testing station at 11355 Falcon Road in northwest Harris County. The officials arrived at the COVID testing location after receiving a tip that the director of health services, Bevin Gordon, had discovered a child in the trunk of Beam's car. A warrant from the Harris County District Attorney's Office said, "she found a female driver, later identified as Sarah Beam, having her child in the trunk of her car." Gordon was gathering information from the lined-up cars at Pridgeon stadium for COVID testing when she questioned the mother.

Further, according to the warrant, the mother opened up the trunk of her car and her child was lying down inside. The health director added that "the defendant confirmed that her son, K.H., who is a 13-year-old child, was in the trunk of the car due (to) the child having been tested positive for Covid." She told Gordon that she placed him inside to avoid being exposed to COVID-19 and wanted some additional testing done on her son. The mother was then informed that the child would not be tested until he was taken from the trunk and placed in the back seat of the car. Gordon immediately called the police after witnessing this incident, per The Guardian. During the inquiry, investigators were able to analyze security footage from a neighboring middle school and confirm that the youngster exited the trunk of the car and entered the backseat of the vehicle.

Law enforcement conducted a full investigation, resulting in a warrant for arrest. Thankfully, the child was not harmed. Sarah Beam most recently worked as a teacher in CFISD and is currently on administrative leave."
None of the proceedings of this case have been confirmed yet. It hasn't been determined if Beam or her son were vaccinated against the virus.
