7 People You're Ready To Give The Finger To Because You're Done Pleasing Them, This New Year

You don't need their approval. You don't need their drama. You don't need their negativity. You don't NEED them. Period.

At the beginning of every new year, everyone quietly wishes to have a year of happiness, a year with less negativity, and a year that's hopefully better than the last one. When you want to have a year where you're finally at the top of your list of priorities, it's also important for you to prioritize the kind of people you spend your time with. As you stand at the beginning of a new year, staring down at the many months to follow, don't hesitate to say f^#k *ff to those people in your life who aren't worth it. It's not your job to please anyone and especially these 7 people.

1. People who call themselves "friends" but act like leeches

The most dangerous person in your life is not your enemy; it's the person who pretends to be your friend but your best interests are never on their mind. This year, you're leaving behind all those people who pull all the energy out of you and leave you feeling drained. Imagine the endless possibilities that this year could bring you when you no longer have to worry about being sucked into their drama, negativity, and selfish motives.

2. People who always make themselves the center of attention

Remember all those hours you spent listening to them, validating them, and trying to fix the endless list of problems in their lives? When you're around them, it's always about them and never about you. But not anymore. There's no reason why you need to spend your precious time coddling someone who can't get a grip over their feelings when they don't give a single thought to the problems that you might be going through.

3. People who say one thing and then do something else behind your back

It's easy to trust someone by the things they do when you're physically around. But can you count on them the same way when your back is turned? You are tired of people whose actions don't match their words. There may have been times where you were hurt by unfulfilled promises, times where you were left waiting for people who said they would show up but didn't.

4. People who can't handle it when you're being honest

If they made you feel weak, ashamed, or guilty for speaking up, then they're not strong enough to accept the valuable things that you have to say. If you have a valid opinion, there's absolutely no reason for you not to stand up for what you believe in. Don't think twice before you cut off those people who try to crush your confidence; fight for what you believe in and don't be afraid to put those people in their place.

5. People who expect you to be someone that you are not

Don't let them convince you that you need to be someone that you're not comfortable being. Their harsh criticisms and overly judgmental attitude have no place in your life, and they certainly don't need to make you feel like you're not good enough. For all those people who have nothing positive to say, who offer their unsolicited advice, and who give their one-sided opinion even when you never asked for it, go out there and show them that you certainly don't need their approval to do what you want and do what makes you happy.

6. People who always expect you to show up but never do the same in return

You're done with people who take advantage of your generous side. Yes, you will always be willing to help but you are starting off the year by leaving behind those people who can't seem to talk about anything but the favors they want from you. But they seem to have a string of excuses when you're the one asking for help. 2020 is going to be the year where you're not afraid to say "no"; it's the year where you'll finally be able to speak up and show people that you can't be pushed around.

7. People who think they can walk all over you

There's no room in your life for people who have blatantly lied to you and tried to manipulate you into fulfilling their needs. Cutting those toxic people out of your life feels like a breath of fresh air and there's no reason for you to explain yourself to them. All you have to do is have the best year that you possibly can, show them the strength and resilience that you're made of, and show them all that you can achieve when you have your true friends and family beside you.
