Prince Harry Lands A Job In The Silicon Valley After Separation From The Palace

Prince Harry stated that he and the CEO of the company had a "shared passion."

Prince Harry has been taking up new roles and initiatives since stepping down as a senior member of the royal family. According to CNN, Harry has become chief impact officer at the Silicon Valley startup called BetterUp. As per the company's website, Prince Harry is part of the leadership team. He is described as a"humanitarian, military veteran, mental wellness advocate, and environmentalist."

BetterUp focuses on providing coaching and mental health services to clients. The Duke is required to give inputs on product strategy decisions, charitable contributions and advocate publicly for mental health issues. "It's a meaningful and meaty role," said CEO Alexi Robichaux to the Wall Street Journal, who first reported the news. Meanwhile, the company refrained from commenting on Harry's remuneration.

Confirming his new position in a blog post, Harry spoke of his motivation to join the company. He stated that he recognized a "shared passion" that he and Robichaux have in helping those in need. "What caught my attention about BetterUp was that the company's mission to unlock the potential in people everywhere necessitates innovation, impact, and integrity. Their team has been delivering on that work for years," said the Duke.

He further claimed that he had personally benefitted by taking up the position at BetterUp. "I've personally found working with a BetterUp coach to be invaluable. I was matched with a truly awesome coach who has given me sound advice and a fresh perspective," said Harry, according to CNN.

The news regarding Prince Harry's association with the startup comes soon after he and his wife, Meghan Markle sat down with Oprah for the tell-all interview. At the time, the couple revealed their challenges after moving away from the royal family. They also highlighted the issues of racism in the royal family and the mental health struggles of Meghan.

Apart from the new role, Harry and Meghan Markle are also founding members of a production company known as Archewell Audio. The company has an exclusive partnership with Spotify. Additionally, the couple also entered into a multi-year deal with Netflix to produce series, scripted shows, documentaries, and children's programming. According to The New York Times, the couple stated, "Our focus will be on creating content that informs but also gives hope. As new parents, making inspirational family programming is also important to us." They also spoke of their hope of sharing impactful content with the unprecedented reach of the OTT platform.
