Prince Harry Dated the “Most Suitable” Woman for Him Before Meghan Markle | Who Is She?

Prince Harry and Cressida Bonas dated for two years. They loved each other, but several other factors took a toll on their relationship.

Prince Harry, who is undoubtedly the Prince Charming among the Royal siblings, dated his share of accomplished and beautiful women before typing the knot with Meghan Markle. However, one woman was particularly considered to be the "most suitable" to be his wife.

According to Express UK, royal biographer Chris Hutchins called Harry's ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas as the "the most suitable person the Prince had ever had in his life."

The biographer believes that the couple would have "married for sure" if it was not for some of the things that bothered Bonas such as the public attention they received constantly. Bonas was never a fan of the media that persistently followed them while they were dating. Also, seeing Kate and William's royal tour along with their then 8-month-old son on TV reinstated her fears.

“In 2014, she was said to have been ‘completely spooked’ after watching the TV coverage of William and Kate touring New Zealand with baby George in tow. That was not the way she would want to enjoy her eight-month-old son, she regretfully explained to Harry," stated royal author Robert Lacey in The Daily Star

While the media intrusion was one of the reasons for the failure of their relationship, there were other reasons, too. Prince Harry's recurring breakdowns during his 20s was another factor that took a toll on Bonas and their relationship.

"Even so, Cressida Bonas, his last serious girlfriend before Meghan Markle, came to feel he was a damaged and self-obsessed young man. 'No matter how educated, talented, rich or cool you believe you are,' she posted enigmatically on her Instagram page, 'how you treat people ultimately tells it all,'" wrote Lacey in his book, according to The Sun

The author also stated that Bonas thought that the Prince "had a neurosis about the media" and complained to her friends about it. " He'd rant and complain about paparazzi lurking where clearly there were none, she said," stated the author.

Despite all the factors that hindered their union, Bonas and Harry shared a special connection.

“Cressida’s love for Harry came not from the fact he was the Queen’s grandson. She wasn’t interested in that—she comes from a very grand ancestry herself," said Hutchins about Bones, who was Harry's love interest from 2012—2014.

As per Cheat Sheet, Bonas comes from an aristocratic family of great heritage. Her mother, Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon, is the daughter of an English Earl. Her father, Jeffrey Bonas, on the other hand, was the chairman of haberdashery MacCulloch & Wallis. Additionally, her half-sister, actor Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe reportedly dated Prince William.

After they broke up, Prince Harry found the love of his life, Meghan Markle. Meghan, who was accustomed to media attention, did not shy away and fear the paparazzi. She knew how to handle them and did so with grace. Moreover, she supported Harry and encouraged him to live up to his full potential. She made him realize he was much more than just a "spare" in the royal family, according to Yahoo

“I mean, clearly the royal plan and expectation was that Harry would marry a nice, interesting girl called Henrietta or Annabel and go and live in the country and be happy with the role of spare, just as he had been very loyally during the early years of the marriage of William and Kate,” but "[Meghan] offered a more challenging and inspiring and creative destiny than being his brother’s perpetual backup," wrote Lacey.

Being Diana's son, he cannot hide his light for long and Meghan just showed him how brightly he can shine and change lives around the world.
