Harry & Meghan Paid A Beautiful Tribute To Princess Diana Through Their Pregnancy Announcement

Meghan Markle had only recently opened up about her miscarriage in November 2020.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle surprised the world on Valentine's Day with some exciting news. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they were expanding their family and expecting baby number two. The couple shared a black and white picture of themselves under a tress, with Meghan's head resting on Harry's lap. The Duchess is seen cradling her baby bump.

"We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child," said a spokesperson of the couple, according to People

While royal fans were more than thrilled to hear the news, many were quick to realize how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's announcement date was a subtle tribute to Princess Diana. According to The Sun, Princess Diana and Prince Charles announced they were expecting their second child on Valentine's Day of 1984. At the time, the news made big headlines and dominated the press. By recreating that historic day, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have once again shown how much they are influenced by Diana.

Harry and Meghan Markle has paid tribute to the late Princess on numerous occasions. During Mother's Day In 2019,  Meghan posted a picture of her cradling her son, Archie's feet in a garden full of Diana's favorite forget-me-nots, according to Vogue. She captioned the picture, "Paying tribute to all mothers today—past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered. We honor and celebrate each and every one of you." Harry, on the other hand,  has made it a point to carry on his mother's legacy of humanitarian works. He has also honored the contributions made by his late mother in many public events.

Meanwhile, the news of Meghan's pregnancy comes months after she revealed her miscarriage. In November 2020, the Duchess stated, "Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few," alluding to the unfortunate event that took place in July 2020.

According to EOnline, Harry was keen on adding a new member to his family. While making a surprise visit to families of deployed servicemen and women in Windsor, England in November 2019, Harry asked a mother how she managed two kids." Harry was really quite interested in how things were with second children, as well, because we both have older children. And we were trying to encourage him to have a second baby," said Susie Stringfellow.

Speaking to legendary ethologist Dr. Jane Goodall in July 2020, Harry stated that he was planning to only have two children.
