Barack Obama and Michelle Obama celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary by sharing emotional notes about each other on social media.
When corporate lawyer Michelle Robinson met her summer associate Barack Obama, she knew he was different. Though she was expecting just a "nerd," the talented young man swept her off her feet with his intellect and charming persona on the very first day. Without much delay, the Southside girl fell in love with the Hawaiian born.
The Chicago love story was solidified with a wedding on 3 October, 1992, and over the years, blossomed into a First Family of the United States. Ever since then the two have been each other's pillars through thick and thin.
27 years ago, this guy promised me a life full of adventure. I’d say he’s delivered. Here’s to our next chapter of becoming empty nesters and discovering what’s next—while still feeling the magic that brought us together all those years ago. Happy anniversary, Barack. pic.twitter.com/ZKhvQGEo0B— Michelle Obama (@MichelleObama) October 3, 2019
Celebrating their 27 years of togetherness, the former President and First Lady took to social media to reflect on their life. Michelle posted a picture of the merry couple on a beachside and wrote, “27 years ago, this guy promised me a life full of adventure. I’d say he’s delivered. Here’s to our next chapter of becoming empty nesters and discovering what’s next—while still feeling the magic that brought us together all those years ago. Happy anniversary, Barack."
Like the Beatles said: It’s getting better all the time. Thanks, babe, for 27 amazing years! pic.twitter.com/mImRqIYn1R— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) October 3, 2019
Barack too honored his wonderful wife through a Twitter post. Posting pictures of the two embracing each other with the view of the setting sun, he wrote, "Like the Beatles said: It’s getting better all the time. Thanks, babe, for 27 amazing years!”
The power couple has always been vocal about their relationship and has carried on the tradition of paying tributes to each other over the years. In 2017, Michelle wrote,"... A quarter of a century later, you're still my best friend & the most extraordinary man I know..," on their 25th anniversary. Michelle who has always been proud of her husband once said, "Barack didn’t pledge riches, only a life that would be interesting. On that promise he delivered.“ The former President, too, has expressed his love and appreciation for his wife on various occasions.
From supporting her opinions to introducing himself proudly as "Michelle's husband," the former president has shown the world how a truly loving husband would make his wife feel respected and loved. "Cause I’ve got one woman who I’m very happy with. And she’s a strong woman," said Obama.
The couple, who has two daughters Malia and Sasha believes their love and relationship are a great example to their children. "They've seen how Michelle and I interact — not only the love but also the respect that I show to their mom. So I think they have pretty high expectations about how relationships should be, and that gives me some confidence about the future. I joke about this stuff sometimes, but the truth is they are smart, steady young women," told Obama to Essence.
There is no doubt that this couple has raised the bar for relationships in general.
