Tom Jones' Wife Had Threatened To Castrate Him After Discovering Mary Wilson Affair

“You’d better straighten it out, because you won’t be able to do anything without your b***s,” she apparently told him

Tom Jones was married to his childhood sweetheart Linda up until her death in 2016, while this may seem heartwarming, the reality was far from it. Their marriage was a difficult one thanks to Jones' infidelity making headlines every now and then. The most famous one was his affair with The Supremes singer Mary Wilson in 1968. The singer was touring the US when the affair started, reported the Express UK

In the book 'Tom Jones: The Life', the author Sean Smith writes that Linda grew tired of his infidelity and checked for proof in his apartment. The Supremes singer had apparently flown to the UK after Jones returned to perform at Bournemouth's Winter Gardens. Sean says that Linda eventually found out about the visit and went over to “sort him out”. Tom and his team were quick to ensure Linda wouldn't find out anything. "They got Mary out and then went around and removed every trace of her.“ said Chris Hutchins, Tom’s publicist at the time. The scene that played out after seems right out of a drama, Linda apparently came in and said, "Where is that woman?" and to which Jones replied, probably trying his best to act clueless, "I don’t know what you’re talking about’". Linda knew that wasn't the case, she said, "Mary Wilson, she’s been here".

Hutchins continues to explain what happened after, “And he said, ‘No, she hasn’t’. But Linda carried on checking the wardrobes, everything. Finally, she opened the oven, the one place the boys had forgotten. Now, Mary Wilson was a great cook and had prepared a meal the previous evening, which they hadn’t yet eaten. Linda says, ‘Oh yeah! And who cooked this?" Hutchins then says that the singer tried to pin it on his assistant before finally telling her the truth. It was then that Linda gave Jones an ultimatum. “You’d better straighten it out, because you won’t be able to do anything without your balls,” she apparently told him.
Hutchings further said,  “He told me the next day that they were lying there and they had just made love and Linda started crying. And she said, ‘When I think that b***h has been lying on these sheets’.”

Daily Mail reported that according to Mary, she was just one of his many affairs, “He had other girls — I was just one of them — but I loved him. He broke my heart, we had to quit. He was married and it couldn't go on," the singer apparently said. In her autobiography, she mentions that she didn’t realize Tom was married at first. “Tom made a great friend as well as a fine lover. Only later did I discover that he was married!" she wrote.

Jones met Linda in his teens and the couple married in 1957. The couple has had many fights throughout their relationship thanks to Jones' numerous affairs. In an interview with The Sunday Times Magazine in 2015, Tom recalled when Linda lashed out at him on seeing the news that he was having an affair with Miss World Majorie Wallace. "I stood there and took it. She chinned me. She punched and shouted," he said. Despite having been unfaithful to Linda, Jones says that she is the love of his life. “She's the most important thing in my life, an unbelievable woman. Linda is the love of my life and she still is, even though she doesn't look like she did," he said. However, when asked if he had any regrets about all the times he cheated on her, Jones replied that he didn't, “I never hurt anybody, it never backfired on me and my marriage is solid,” he further said, according to the Express UK.
