A flight attendant allegedly thought her crop top was "inappropriate".
A woman from Alaska claims she was removed from a flight because an attendant thought her crop top was "inappropriate". The 33-year-old TikToker said that she was discriminated against for being a "fat, tattooed, mixed-race woman." Ray Lin Howard recorded herself being interviewed by police officers after she was allegedly escorted off of an Alaska Airlines flight, reports The Daily Mail. The plus-size rapper and stylist uploaded her ordeal to her @fattrophywife TikTok account which has since amassed more than 1.3 million views.

Howard alleged that it all started when Alaska Airlines staff “harassed” her about her outfit, which consisted of a midriff-bearing top and biker shorts. In the video, she can be heard telling police officers, "I'm being harassed and now I'm being detained. I wore an outfit. That's what happened." Howard then tells the authorities that she was wearing a sports bra and was asked by a flight attendant to cover up. She told the officer that she obliged and did in fact, wear a crop top over it. "Then they approached me again, saying I can't wear this, my stomach is showing, and it's inappropriate," she added.
The cabin crew approached her three times after which the cops were called to the scene. Howard told the crew, 'If you're going to kick me off, kick me off. I've done what you asked me to do. I want you to leave me alone." She later asked officials to let her go because she had to perform at a show. An officer tells her she’s not facing any criminal charges and they’re just trying to hear her side of the story. She was finally let go and did make it to her show, but the incident left a mental and emotional scar on her. "I felt like I was being discriminated against for being a fat, tattooed, mixed-race woman, which in turn left me full of emotions like anger, disappointment, helplessness, humiliation, and confusion," Ray told Jam Press.
In a follow-up video, Howard showed her followers the outfit she wore on the flight which was a pink leopard crop top featuring a crew neck and short sleeves. Representatives for Alaska Airlines told The New York Post, “We’re in contact with the guest. We’re committed to finding out what happened and taking the appropriate actions. It’s our goal to provide caring service to all of our guests. When we don’t live up to that goal, we do everything we can to make it right.” Howard later said that the airline had called her to apologize and offered a discount code for future purchases, which she called "hilarious" in a TikTok video. According to UNILAD, the dress code on Alaska Airlines flights is "casual, and the requirement is simply a neat and well-groomed appearance. Clothing that is soiled or tattered and bare feet are never acceptable. You are expected to use good judgement, but customer service agents will have the final authority to refuse travel for inappropriate attire or appearance."
