Woman Gives Birth On Her Front Lawn Which Was Captured On Ring Security Camera: "I never want to do that again"

The California newborn named Thomas arrived into this world in quite a unique way.

Talk about a "natural" birth. One baby decided to come into the world in quite a unique way in a natural delivery room: the family's front lawn! Emily Johnson was in labor and didn't have time to make it to the hospital so she lay on her front lawn and gave birth right there. Emily, of Vacaville, told NBC affiliate KCRA that she was on her way to the hospital last Thursday night after going into labor with her son Thomas. "We got to the car and I just said, 'No, I can't get into this car,' " Emily Johnson recalled.

Emily and her husband Michael had been trying to have a baby for approximately six months before Emily became pregnant with Thomas. "I was really eager to be done," she told the outlet. "I was hoping he was going to come early, but we never really knew." Well, much to Emily's wishes Thomas did come early, but way earlier than she expected.  Contractions began a week earlier than her expected due date, and they were happening every 10 minutes for about three hours. "The contractions went from three minutes to two minutes to one minute in a matter of 20 to 30 minutes," Emily explained. "And we are like, 'Oh, we got to get into the car we have to go.' " They live only 5 minutes away from the hospital so the couple thought they'd be able to make it but baby Thomas had other plans. Once Emily made it to the front seat of the vehicle, she knew she had to deliver the baby as soon as possible.  "I'm just like, 'I'm going to get on the grass. I'm going to be here. This is my spot.' " she said.  "I joke that I was like a cow giving birth in the field because once I got to the hospital, I had grass clippings falling right off me and the nurses were wiping dirt off my knee and I'm like, 'Oh, I did give birth in the lawn,' " the new mom shared. "I never want to do that again."

Emily's mom had arrived just in time to greet her newborn grandchild and was prepared, on her hands and knees as she noticed the head coming up.  First responders were also called to the scene. "By the time [first responders] walked up to me, I had a baby in my arms crying," grandma Kristy Sparks recalled to KCRA. "It was unreal." After Thomas arrived the mom "just laid back in the grass and took a nice deep breath... It was so much pain and discomfort," said Emily  The doorbell camera caught the whirlwind moment and now the family has a tale to tell as Thomas gets older. "I was like, 'Oh, this is going to be on the camera,'" Michael explained. "I'm going to watch this and we share this." This birth story is surely one that friends and family are not going to forget! "I'm just thankful that I was facing in that direction because otherwise, I don't think we'd be able to share the video footage with anybody," Emily jokingly added.
