Woman Who Made $50,000 in a Week Selling Farts Is Hospitalised for Farting

Steph Matto who sold her farts in jar was hospitalized after she experienced symptoms like a 'heart attack.'

Steph Matto, 31, from Connecticut, started selling her farts in a jar in November last year. She began doing this after receiving requests on the adult-content website Unfiltrd. After suffering shooting sensations in her chest, she was admitted to the emergency room with signs of a 'heart attack.' Doctors were concerned and ran blood tests and an electrocardiogram. However, they subsequently informed her that the symptoms were caused by excess gas from her regular diet of beans, eggs, and banana protein drinks, Ladbible reports. Matto spoke on the matter, "I thought I was having a stroke and that these were my final moments. I was overdoing it."

Matto earned around $1,000 per jar for her one-of-a-kind product, however. She also offered a discount during the holiday season. Soon the demand for her jars increased and she had to keep up by producing 50 jars of farts every week. She changed her diet and added high-fiber products like beans and eggs to facilitate the process. She learned that protein shakes gave farts a stronger smell and added them into her meals too. She says, "I remember within one day I had about three protein shakes and a huge bowl of black bean soup. I could tell that something was not right that evening when I was lying in bed and I could feel pressure in my stomach moving upward."

She says that this change in her diet caused difficulty in breathing and she started feeling a pinch in her heart after taking in a breath. Eventually, she thought there was something wrong with her heart, "I called my friend and asked if they could come over to drive me to the hospital because I thought I was experiencing a heart attack. I ended up going to the hospital that evening. I didn't tell my doctors about the farting in the jar but I did tell them about my diet." The doctors told her that there was nothing wrong with her heart but she was having a high acid level in her stomach causing distress in her chest.

"I was advised to change my diet and to take a gas suppressant medication, which has effectively ended my business," she says. Her two-month venture was short-lived and she had to quit selling these jars despite requests. Matto says that she has gotten an equal amount of hate and love for business on social media, "I have a lot of people praising me, calling me a girl boss, telling me that I inspire them to be unashamed of who they are and what they do. But on the other end, I have been getting a ton of negativity. I have even received death threats, people telling me I should end my life, and so on." She says that she is trying to stay away from the hate comments and believes that people shouldn't tear each other down for their choices. "Especially if their choices are literally hurting no one," adds Matto.
